Pajaro Valley Food Mapping Summary
This 2020 report from the Pajaro Valley Food, Farming, and Health Policy Council (FFHPC) maps food access, health, and the local food system across the Pajaro Valley. Prepared by Sara Housman, MPH, RD, with funding from Kaiser Permanente Community Benefit Programs, it was created to build a shared understanding of the region, its people, their health, and their access to food to inform the Council’s food policy priorities.
The Council was convened in 2018 by the Pajaro Valley Community Health Trust to bring together agencies, farms, food producers, and residents around food system change. This summary covers regional demographics, employment, cost of living, housing, environment, water, schools, food insecurity, health, and homelessness, along with an inventory of current programs and a list of the Council’s nearly two dozen participating organizations.
