Central Coast Potential Priority Areas for Policy Agenda (March 2023)

This working document from March 2023 captures an early Community of Practice exercise to prioritize a shared regional food policy agenda. Members ranked potential policy focus areas as High, Medium, or Low priority (or N/A) across categories including food access and healthy food environments, growing food, producing and selling food, and food security — covering topics such as local food promotion, farmers markets, institutional procurement, community gardens and urban farms, regenerative agriculture, cottage food law, micro-enterprise home kitchen operations (MEHKO), and CalFresh/WIC benefits, with individual members’ rankings and notes recorded for each item.

The document offers a useful historical snapshot of which policy issues Central Coast members considered most pressing as the Community of Practice’s shared agenda was first taking shape.
