We Are Transitioning

After nearly four years, on behalf of CAFPC and SBCFAN, Melanie and Shakira are stepping aside as the co-conveners of the Central Coast Resilient Food System Community of Practice (CoP).

The CoP was launched in response to a need to facilitate both the connection and mobilization of local food system actors across the six-county Central Coast, as well as ensure local food systems are prioritized and included in both policy and economic planning and investment.  Along the way, Melanie and Shakira held two roles — ongoing fundseeking to ensure this work could continue and co-facilitation of regular CoP meetings.The CoP has collectively contributed to and achieved its founding purpose and other milestones, which we’ll reflect upon throughout the next month.

The last general meeting of the CoP was Thursday, August 27.

SBCFAN will continue to moderate the virtual hub through its first year. We seek someone who is interested in taking on ownership of the domain after that time.  Shared files from the Google folder will be transferred to the virtual hub by August 31st. Melanie will remain the “owner” of the Google discussion group that will continue online for as long as our network members find it useful.

Now that the CoP has officially transitioned to the Central Coast Food Commons (including a shared mission, brand, and virtual hub), existing Industry Clusters and emerging ones may continue to use these assets in carrying on our food system collaboration. It has been special privilege to work alongside each of you.  We look forward to what the next season for our local food systems will become.
