USDA has opened up application period for its Cold Chain Grants for Emergency Food Assistance. Applications are due Oct 1, 2026.

Below shows the allowable costs from the program terms and conditions attachment:

“Allowable

• Purchases of cold storage equipment (such as refrigerators, freezers, refrigerated delivery

vehicles, mobile coolers, etc.) are allowable when approved in the budget or with prior

written approval. All equipment purchases must meet the following criteria:

o Equipment is necessary for the technical activities of the agreement and is not

otherwise reasonably available and accessible.

o Ancillary equipment below the $10,000 simplified equipment threshold that is

essential to the operation/use of purchased equipment, such as shelving, prep tables,

pallet jack, forklift, back-up generators, insulated storage and packs, enhanced

temperature monitoring devices, and repacking equipment/supplies.

• Equipment must be used solely to meet the purpose of the program and objectives of the

agreement.

• Equipment is subject to the full range of acquisition, use, management, and disposition

requirements under 2 CFR § 200.313 as applicable.”
